[00:00:00] Foreign hey there all you true crime fans. Amanda here. I just wanted to stop by really quick and let you guys know that there's been an update in the Suzanne Morphew case. [00:00:16] It looks like on June 18, which would have been Wednesday of this week, a grand jury returned an indictment charging Barry Morphew, Suzanne's husband, with first degree murder in connection with her death. I'm sure you guys remember who Suzanne was. [00:00:32] She was the mother who went out for a bike ride on Mother's Day weekend and has been missing since. [00:00:39] Her remains were found in October of 2023. [00:00:43] And according to 9News, Denver, Barry Morphew was taken into custody in Gilbert, Arizona, and he will be extradited to the San Luis Valley to face charges. [00:00:54] So it appears that there's going to be a media briefing this evening at 6pm and I will update you guys on that one tomorrow. [00:01:01] Barry Morphew, who is now 56, was originally arrested in connection with her disappearance back in May of 2021. But just days before he was set to stand trial In April of 2022, all the charges were dropped. Now it's coming to light that they believe Barry Morphew loaded a syringe into a tranquilizer dart, put his phone on airplane mode, and then shot his wife with the dart. He then chased her around their home until the tranquilizer took effect. An autopsy was conducted on the remains and the matter of death is listed as, quote, homicide by undetermined means in the setting of butorphanol, aziparone and metatomidine intoxication, and end quote. And that is according to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. Those three drugs together are commonly known as bam, and it's tightly regulated and only sold by one company in the United States. BAM is primarily used for chemical immobilization of wild animals for various purposes, such as wildlife capture and handling, veterinary procedures, and research purposes. [00:02:13] Furthermore, the indictment notes that Barry Morphew was the only private citizen living in Colorado with access to this tranquilizer. Records show that no other people or businesses besides the Bureau of Land Management and Colorado Parks and Wildlife purchased Bam prescriptions between 2017 and 2020. None of the BAM from the government agencies was unaccounted for. Also, as part of the autopsy report, the medical examiner received Morphew's remains in a bag containing both bones and clothing to include a sweatshirt reading Crested Butte, a Nike tank top and yeti shorts. A ski mask and weathered bullets are also noted as evidence in the report, but there's no mention of DNA found on any items or DNA testing to said items. It is worth noting that authorities did offer Barry and their daughters, Mallory and Macy, the option to retrieve Suzanne's remains. But the family actually wanted to ensure that a suspect was apprehended before they take what could be an important, important piece of evidence in the suspect's prosecution. The family has remained skeptical about the integrity of the investigation, as there is unknown male DNA that was found in Suzanne's car. So, again, there will be a news briefing this evening around 6pm I will go through it tomorrow and update you guys. But this could be really, really huge news. [00:03:37] So I will update you guys as soon as I have time to listen to the report this evening. I am headed out to baseball now, but I hope you guys have a beautiful day wherever you and as always, stay safe.
